When this trip works

February and March are the clearest months for the views that are the whole reason to come up here. October and November are the wettest stretch of the year in the hills, and a tea country trip in cloud can be a long drive to see fog. It is a real risk rather than a certainty: the mist lifts most mornings and the estates are at their greenest, so we will take the booking in those months and tell you the odds first.

October — mixed, worth a conversation

It is October now, and this route reads mixed this month.

Make it yours

This is a starting shape, not a fixed departure. The changes people ask for most:

  • Add the Kandy to Nanu Oya train leg and let the vehicle carry the bags and meet you
  • Swap Nuwara Eliya for Ella if you would rather have warmth and a viewpoint than a hill station
  • Trade Horton Plains for a full Pekoe Trail day with a picnic on the estate
